Former Super Eagles skipper Joseph Yobo who recently signed for NPFL giants Kano Pillars will be missing today’s action as the 2013/2014 champions tackle Shooting Stars of Ibadan at the Adamasingba stadium in Oyo State.
Speaking to Fever Pitch yesterday, Pillars media officer Idris Malikawa said the ex-Everton star is yet to fully join the Kano based club as there few modalities yet to be completed and assured that the player’s unveiling will be done at their Sani Abacha stadium home ground in their next game.
“He (Yobo) is not with us at the moment but we expect him to link up with the rest of the squad anytime soon but for his unveiling, we are looking at our next game in Kano.” Malikawa said.
Yobo signed for Pillars as an LMC Ambassador and was expected to make his debut in today’s game as reported by most media outfits.
Apart from Pillars, IfeanyiUbah, Akwa United and Wikki were all in the race to sign the former Nigeria skipper Yobo, who won 101 caps with the Super Eagles.
Born in Kano, Yobo, who will be 36 next month, agreed a deal with the League Management Company (LMC), which will see him feature in the domestic league as a way of promoting and adding value to the competition.
The central defender has previously played for Turkish giants Fenerbache, Olympique Marseille in France as well as Norwich City in the Premier League
